### Community
The FHIR community meets under the umbrella [HL7](http://hl7.org) and draws on its extensive human resources, institutional memory, previous standards, international affiliates, and corporate and government support. HL7 itself owns FHIR and makes it [freely available](license) and the community relies on HL7-provided infrastructure. The community has a [Code of Conduct](http://www.hl7.org/legal/code-of-conduct.cfm) that all participants are expected to adhere to.
The FHIR community gathers, meets, or communicates using the following infrastructure, provided by HL7 directly, or through the [HL7 FHIR Foundation](http://fhir.org):
- [http://chat.fhir.org](http://chat.fhir.org) - instant messaging-based FHIR support forum (Zulip!)
- the [FHIR issue tracker](http://hl7.org/fhir-issues) for change requests and task management
- [HL7 Confluence](https://confluence.hl7.org/display/FHIR) - recording informal documentation in support of the community
- and [GitHub](http://github.com/hl7/fhir) - source control
In addition, the community holds regular [connectathons](http://hl7.org/events/fhir-connectathon/) and meetings as part of the [HL7 Working Group meetings](http://hl7.org/events/workgroupmeetings.cfm). The formal governance arrangements that manage FHIR development are documented on HL7's [Confluence site](https://confluence.hl7.org/display/FHIR/Governance+Process).
HL7 and the FHIR Community wish to thank the [United States Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health (Technology and Policy)](https://www.healthit.gov) for their extensive support to the FHIR community for many years, and also to thank [Google](https://about.google) and the [Zulip team](https://zulip.com) for providing the cloud infrastructure the FHIR community uses.
